AAALAC Accreditation Site Visit

November 10 - 11, 2020

Address

Chicago, IL 60612

AAALAC is a private, non-profit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through an accreditation program. Accreditation by AAALAC indicates a high quality animal care and use program and a commitment by the institution to provide high quality, humane, animal care.  AAALAC accreditation demonstrates accountability on the part of the animal care program to the public and to funding agencies. Moreover, it simplifies institutional eligibility for both NIH and Non-NIH funding.

On November 10th and 11th the UIC Animal Care and Use Program will undergo its triennial AAALAC International Accreditation Inspection.  The site visit team will be inspecting animal and procedure rooms and investigator labs where animals are used. For more information on AAALAC and how you can help the institution prepare for a successful accreditation site visit see this month’s BRL Bulletin or feel free to contact a member of the BRL veterinary staff.
