Any questions or concerns regarding the care and/or welfare of an animal, an investigative project or any aspect of the UIC Animal Care Program can be reported to the Director of the Biologic Resources Laboratory, the Director of the Office of Animal Care and Institutional Biosafety, the Chair of the Animal Care Committee, or the University Ethics Officer. For assistance with animals needing immediate veterinary care and/or euthanasia during the workday, please contact the BRL veterinarian, supervisor or laboratory animal health technician responsible for the animal facility in which your animals are housed.

The UIC Chicago Police Department is responsible for providing for the safety and security of the campus and its surrounding neighborhoods. The UIC Facilities Management (FM) department is responsible for maintaining and servicing buildings and building infrastructure on campus.  Should building problems arise during the workday, such as floods, elevator breakdowns, leaks, loss of power and faulty exterior door locks or closures, either notify the supervisor or laboratory animal health technician responsible for the animal facility or call FM at (312) 996-7511. The Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHSO) is responsible for ensuring that the UIC campus environment is healthy and safe for students, employees and visitors.  Should a health and safety concern arise such as a chemical, biological or radioactive material spill, call EHSO during the work day at (312) 996-4711 or (312) 996-7133.
